About Us
The IBC Network Foundation Canada is the only charity in the country dedicated to addressing the critical gaps in awareness, research, and patient support for Inflammatory Breast Cancer. As a rare and fast-growing cancer, it is often misdiagnosed, leading to dangerous delays in treatment. We are committed to raising awareness, advocating for better diagnostics and care, and funding groundbreaking research. Our goal is to empower patients, drive change, and ensure no one faces this disease alone. Together, we bring hope, knowledge, and a stronger voice to the Canadian IBC community.

Our MISSION
To promote and fund Canadian research about Inflammatory Breast Cancer
To educate the public and healthcare professionals
To provide advocacy, information and support
Our vision
Our vision for a future where Inflammatory Breast Cancer no longer exists in the world as a life-threatening diagnosis. We strive to empower patients, educate the public, and collaborate with the medical community to transform the landscape of IBC so that it is comprehensively understood, promptly diagnosed, and effectively treated.
Through unwavering dedication, research, and support, we envision a future where IBC is eradicated, offering hope and healing to those impacted by this rare and aggressive form of cancer.
The IBC ribbon is distinct from the traditional pink ribbon often associated with breast cancer, with each element thoughtfully chosen to represent aspects of Inflammatory Breast Cancer:

Pink ties it to the broader awareness of breast cancer, as a well-recognized symbol.
Orange (or salmon) highlights the unique skin changes often seen with IBC, such as redness, a rash, or the "peau d'orange" (orange peel) texture, which are key signs of the disease.
Black is a thin stripe included to acknowledge the aggressive nature of IBC and to honor the memory of those who have been lost to it.
This ribbon was designed by a fellow IBC sister, Tess Skaggs, in the United States, and it has since become an internationally recognized symbol of hope, awareness, and solidarity for the IBC community.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Danielle Cameron
President & Founder
Who am I?
Hi, I’m Danielle Cameron, the President and Founder of the IBC Network Foundation Canada. With a background as an educator and experience as the Executive Director for two small non-profit childcare centers, my professional journey has been deeply rooted in service and care. Outside of my work with the foundation, I cherish time spent with my family, whether at our trailer or traveling and teaching my children to appreciate the beauty around us. I also volunteer as a patient advisor and peer supporter at my hospital.
Why did I join the IBC Network Foundation Canada?
My connection to this charity is deeply personal. While pregnant with my third child, I experienced the first symptoms of Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Despite diligent care from my team, I was misdiagnosed with mastitis, a common issue with IBC and rapidly progressed to stage 4.
Throughout the beginning of my journey, I felt a profound sense of isolation despite having a strong support network and excellent medical care. Four months into my diagnosis, I discovered an Inflammatory Breast Cancer Facebook support group founded by Terry Arnold of the IBC Network Foundation in the US but I noticed a lack of Canadian representation and resources. The Canadian women I did connect with voiced their frustrations about the lack of Canadian IBC data and guidelines and expressed a desire to support a Canadian IBC organization but such an entity didn’t exist. I realized the urgent need for a dedicated Canadian IBC organization.
What do I hope to contribute?
My vision for the IBC Network Foundation Canada is to fund life-saving research and to provide comprehensive education, advocacy, and support to Canadians facing Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I am deeply committed to building an informed and empowered community for Canadians and their families and helping to ensure appropriate care and essential resources. Additionally, I am passionate about educating the medical community to enhance the diagnosis process and improve treatment outcomes. Every day is a gift, and I am deeply grateful for the support I have received. I am passionate about giving back and making a difference in any way I can.
Deb Mosnyk
Secretary
Who am I?
My name is Deb Mosnyk and I am a retired and proud grandma of three. In my working life, I was an occupational therapist and professor. I have just started as a Board Member and Secretary for the IBC Foundation Network Canada.
Why did I join IBC Network Foundation Canada?
I became aware of IBC because of the diagnosis of a close family member. The more I learned about IBC, the more I wanted to do something to support not only my family member, but others with IBC. A Canadian foundation focused on IBC seemed to be the perfect way to make a difference.
What do I hope to contribute?
I have been on the boards of several professional associations and non profits. As this foundation gets going, I hope that I can share my passion and enthusiasm for the cause as well as my past experience. I also look forward to meeting more members of this wonderful community.

Why did I join the IBC Network Foundation Canada?
When my best friend was diagnosed with IBC in 2019, it was life-changing in so many ways. She has been a shining light, an absolute warrior and a beacon of positivity. I want to honour her journey, her fight, and her survival, by helping others.
What do I hope to contribute?
My dream is to help establish a flourishing support network from coast to coast, offering resources, compassion and community to the many women and their loved ones whose lives are touched by IBC.
Dr. William Tran, MRT(T), MSc, PhD
Chief Scientific Advisor
Work-Affiliated Title: Associate Professor (Radiation Oncology, University of Toronto) & Senior Scientist (Sunnybrook Research Institute)
IBC Network Foundation Title: Chief Scientific Advisor
Dr. Tran is a clinician and scientist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The focus of Dr. Tran’s research is to identify predictive (i.e. pre-treatment) and early-response biomarkers for tumour response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy using artificial intelligence. His team is exploring quantitative imaging biomarkers from digital pathology to design computer-aided theragnostic (CAT) systems. The primary endpoint of Dr. Tran’s research will be improved patient outcomes by using biomarker measurements for adaptive and response-guided cancer treatments. He is on the steering committee of the Canadian National Breast Cancer Consortium, and member of the International Immuno-Oncology Biomarker Working Group. Dr. Tran has a clinical focus on high-risk breast cancer, and treatment-resistant breast cancer.
Why you’ve chosen to support the IBC Network Foundation Canada?
I have a research and clinical interest in breast cancer, having dedicated my academic career solely on developing new technologies and clinical guidelines, ultimately with the aim to improve the diagnostic and treatment pathways for women with high-risk breast cancer.
My support for the IBC Network Foundation Canada (IBCNFC) is driven by a strong motivation to improve health care outcomes for women. Having listened to the many experiences and journeys of patients, there is a need to strengthen community, academic and healthcare engagement so that we can deliver patient-centred and individualized care.
