About Us

The IBC Network Foundation Canada is the only charity in the country dedicated to addressing the critical gaps in awareness, research, and patient support for Inflammatory Breast Cancer. As a rare and fast-growing cancer, it is often misdiagnosed, leading to dangerous delays in treatment. We are committed to raising awareness, advocating for better diagnostics and care, and funding groundbreaking research. Our goal is to empower patients, drive change, and ensure no one faces this disease alone. Together, we bring hope, knowledge, and a stronger voice to the Canadian IBC community.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Danielle Cameron

Danielle Cameron

President & Founder

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Danielle Cameron, the President and Founder of the IBC Network Foundation Canada. With a background as an educator and experience as the Executive Director for two small non-profit childcare centers, my professional journey has been deeply rooted in service and care. Outside of my work with the foundation, I cherish time spent with my family, whether at our trailer or traveling and teaching my children to appreciate the beauty around us. I also volunteer as a patient advisor and peer supporter at my hospital.

Why did I join the IBC Network Foundation Canada?

My connection to this charity is deeply personal. While pregnant with my third child, I experienced the first symptoms of Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Despite diligent care from my team, I was misdiagnosed with mastitis, a common issue with IBC and rapidly progressed to stage 4.

Throughout the beginning of my journey, I felt a profound sense of isolation despite having a strong support network and excellent medical care. Four months into my diagnosis, I discovered an Inflammatory Breast Cancer Facebook support group founded by Terry Arnold of the IBC Network Foundation in the US but I noticed a lack of Canadian representation and resources. The Canadian women I did connect with voiced their frustrations about the lack of Canadian IBC data and guidelines and expressed a desire to support a Canadian IBC organization but such an entity didn’t exist. I realized the urgent need for a dedicated Canadian IBC organization.

What do I hope to contribute?

My vision for the IBC Network Foundation Canada is to fund life-saving research and to provide comprehensive education, advocacy, and support to Canadians facing Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I am deeply committed to building an informed and empowered community for Canadians and their families and helping to ensure appropriate care and essential resources. Additionally, I am passionate about educating the medical community to enhance the diagnosis process and improve treatment outcomes.  Every day is a gift, and I am deeply grateful for the support I have received. I am passionate about giving back and making a difference in any way I can.

Deb Mosnyk

Secretary

Who am I?

My name is Deb Mosnyk and I am a retired and proud grandma of three.  In my working life, I was an occupational therapist and professor.  I have just started as a Board Member and Secretary for the IBC Foundation Network Canada.

Why did I join IBC Network Foundation Canada?

I became aware of IBC because of the diagnosis of a close family member.  The more I learned about IBC, the more I wanted to do something to support not only my family member, but others with IBC.  A Canadian foundation focused on IBC seemed to be the perfect way to make a difference.

What do I hope to contribute?

I have been on the boards of several professional associations and non profits.  As this foundation gets going, I hope that I can share my passion and enthusiasm for the cause as well as my past experience.  I also look forward to meeting more members of this wonderful community.

Kerry Goulding

Treasurer

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Kerry Goulding, one of the founding board members and Treasurer of the IBC Network Foundation Canada. I’m a Production Accountant for film and television, based in Vancouver and Toronto. In my spare time, I enjoy concerts, reading, photography, podcasts, snowboarding, traveling, and volunteering at the SPCA.

Why did I join the IBC Network Foundation Canada?

When my best friend was diagnosed with IBC in 2019, it was life-changing in so many ways. She has been a shining light, an absolute warrior and a beacon of positivity.  I want to honour her journey, her fight, and her survival, by helping others.

What do I hope to contribute?

My dream is to help establish a flourishing support network from coast to coast, offering resources, compassion and community to the many women and their loved ones whose lives are touched by IBC.

Kelly Stadelbauer

Board Member

Who am I?

I’m Kelly Stadelbauer and recently joined the Board of this quickly growing organization. I worked most of my career in the health care sector and I’m passionate about community-based health, women’s health and publicly funded healthcare. I’m also the mother and spouse to two exuberant meteorologists, so I’m not good with small talk about the weather.

Why did I join IBC Network Foundation Canada?

I am a survivor of IBC and I’m now ready to support this organization to do what I can to reduce the impact of this rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. I was fortunate to have a health care team that knew about the signs and symptoms of IBC – as a result, I was able to get prompt treatment. But I know this isn’t the case for too many who end up languishing too long for an accurate diagnosis. Through the Foundation’s work, I hope I can help bring better outcomes to those with IBC.

What do I hope to contribute?

I bring many years of senior management and board experience in health care related organizations and I’m a true governance geek. I hope to bring this experience and knowledge to the Board, creating a strong sustainable charitable organization. And I look forward to meeting more IBC sisters, sharing stories and challenges and supporting each other along our individual cancer journeys.

Michelle Nicholas

Board Member

Who am I?

My name is Michelle Nicholas and I have been working as a Registered nurse in Critical Care and Cardiology for over 25 years. Currently I work in cardiac surgery triage in New Westminster BC. I am also an inflammatory breast cancer patient and advocate.

I am from New Zealand and have lived in a few places around the world, but have been able to call Vancouver BC home since 2005. I have always loved to travel and have also lived my adult life as somewhat of a perpetual student, with a background in cinical research. In my downtime I am an avid cook, love to travel and am happiest when on or near the water.

Why did I join IBC Network Foundation Canada?

I was diagnosed with IBC in 2023. it was devastatoing and eye opening finding myself on the other side of the healthcare experience. As both a healthcare professional and an IBC patient, I have seen firsthand the gaps that exist in awareness, research, and access to information. I didn’t find the IBC network until late in my cancer journey and so missed out on much of the information and suport I needed, largely through fear of what I might find if I looked for an IBC community that didn’t exist due to all of the negative information I had read. Thankfully what I did find, was an incredible and supportive network of people. I was drawn to start volunterring my time because of the IBC Network Foundation Canada’s focus on bringing together the patient voice, clinical insight, and research in a meaningful and collaborative way.

What do I hope to contribute?

I hope to bring my professional and personal experiences to the this much needed network to help bridge the gaps in knowledge for the public and healthcare profession about IBC. Since getting involved, I’ve supported the development of the charity’s clinical trials database and contributed to educational webinars and surveys, helping to build resources that are practical, accessible, and grounded in real patient needs.

I am acutely aware of the lack of clinical research about Inflammatory Breast Canacer in Canada. I hope to contribute to recitfying this and help shift current practice and perspectives on IBC.  .

I am particularly passionate about knowledge translation, making sure research findings don’t just stay in journals, but that they reach patients in a format that they can understand and use as a tool to inform their care.

I’m committed to helping strengthen the connections between patients, clinicians, and researchers, and to supporting efforts that move IBC awareness, education, and research forward in Canada.
