Next Steps for IBC Network Foundation Canada

Develop and Distribute Educational Materials:

We need to create comprehensive educational resources tailored for both patients and clinicians across Canada. This includes detailed guides on recognizing IBC symptoms and understanding the latest treatment protocols.

Establish National IBC Care Guidelines:

Work with leading oncologists and cancer centers across Canada to develop and implement standardized care guidelines for IBC. These guidelines should be integrated into the broader cancer care framework and made accessible to all healthcare providers.

Advocate for Research and Clinical Trials:

Push for increased funding for IBC research in Canada, including support for genomic studies and participation in international clinical trials. We must also lobby for the inclusion of IBC in national cancer research agendas.

Empower Patient Advocacy:

Launch initiatives to educate patients about IBC and encourage them to advocate for themselves within the healthcare system. This includes developing online resources, support groups, and workshops aimed at empowering patients and their families.

The 2023 SABCS has illuminated both the progress we’ve made and the gaps that remain in our understanding and treatment of IBC. As representatives of the IBC Network Foundation Canada, it is our responsibility to take these insights and translate them into concrete actions that will benefit Canadian patients and help drive the global fight against this devastating disease.
